China Market Commentary for November 18, 2008... Hong Kong shocked Asian investors this weekend with the announcement that they have entered their first recession since the deadly SARS epidemic. This does not mean that we are not finding opportunity in this market... Click HERE to log in...

China Market Commentary for November 13, 2008... The internet is a buzz with pundits who are claiming that China’s economic stimulus plan announced this Monday will be the savior to beleaguered investors both here and there. As the #1 rated performing China investment research team, three years in a row, we say this view is nonsense... Click HERE to log in...

China Market Commentary for November 12, 2008... Last Wednesday, the day after the US elections, I sent you a blanket sell order on all our China Stock Digest positions. The SELL call was a great one and allowed us to pocket substantial profits on purchases made only the week before. Last Tuesday’s elections made history in the United States, electing our first African-American president in Barack Obama. As remarkable as it was, the markets declined sharply to deliver the worst post Election Day performance in history... Click HERE to log in...

In the November 2008 issue... Not since the Great Depression have we seen such horrendous volatility and uncertainty shaking stock markets and financial institutions worldwide. As investors in Chinese stocks we have two important lessons to learn from this historic shakeup. The good news is that excellent Chinese companies are available on the market at fire sale prices. Our job will be to show you where the hidden values lie buried in the rubble of Wall Street’s mess. Click HERE to login to America’s #1 performing pure China stock investment newsletter.

China Stock Digest Buy Alert for October 30, 2008... Great Buys for a Brutal Market The month of October has been a brutal one for investors with the S & P 500 trading downward in a wild 328 point range. The opportunities we are seeing in China equities is quite different from the story here. Yesterday I put out 4 buy alerts and all of the socks we added now have heavy gains. Today, we add three more stocks to the portfolio... Click HERE to log in...

In the October 2008 issue... It sometimes takes a long time for the world to wake up to an entirely new reality. If last month’s Olympic spectacular didn’t send a loud enough message about China’s new place in the world, the ongoing financial crisis is sending an even more powerful message. America is deeply in debt to China. China’s holdings of foreign reserves are approaching two trillion dollars, an amount that gives China considerable strategic power. China Market Commentary for September 26, 2008... No doubt this has been a rough year for investors. I have warned for some time the problems in the US are far from over. China has also had its problems and it's stock market has not reflected the relative strength of its economy. Today we make several changes to our China Stock Digest model portfolio. We are adding six stocks to our portfolio... Click HERE to log in...

China Market Commentary for September 17, 2008... Speaking of storms, the US stock market looks like it was hit by a hurricane also. Remember I predicted more failures in my market commentary last week? Click HERE to log in...

Flash Alert... As I am sure you know, this past weekend Houston suffered a direct hit by Hurricane Ike. Fortunately, our China Stock Digest offices in Houston sustained no major damage. However, the entire city of Houston was severely affected, and it will be some time before streets and traffic lights are functioning normally again.
Most of our staff are without electricity at home, and many are without phone and internet service. Most cell phones are working. At the moment most of our team members are coping with their personal situations by making sure they have food, water and gas for their families. Local officials are saying it will be weeks days before electricity is widely restored. Nevertheless, almost all of our professionals are making it to the office for at least part of each day and/or working remotely.
Accordingly, we ask you to bear with us until we get back to work in a somewhat normal manner.
Best regards,
James Trippon

In the September 2008 issue... The Olympic flame has been doused and the Beijing Games have ended with a terrific bang. Any American who tuned into the Beijing Games, especially the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies, must have sensed the fact that a new great power had made its world debut. But what practical effect will all the Olympic pomp and ceremony have? Will the stock market and China’s GDP rise after the Games? In the August 2008 issue... Why invest in China? That’s where the money is, and it’s where exponential future economic growth is also. With $1.81 trillion in foreign reserves,China is most certainly where the world’s largest stock of money is located. Investing in a growing economy is a good deal safer in the long run than putting all of one’s money in an economy where the banking system continues to be racked by instability. While the world watches the Games, we’ll be watching the fundamentals of companies in our portfolio... Click HERE to log in...

In the June 2008 issue… It would be unthinkable to begin this edition of the China Stock Digest without expressing our deepest sympathies with the victims of the tragic earthquake in Sichuan province. Estimates suggest that more than 80,000 people lost their lives. The response of the Chinese government is unlike anything we have seen previously from Beijing. Soon after the aftershocks subsided, both President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao rushed to the earthquake zone in a highly publicized expression of official concern.
Why does this matter to China Stock Digest subscribers? Many subscribers have asked about the long term economic consequences of the quake. Some wish to known more about investment opportunities. I discussed these issues in the last China Stock Digest conference call, and I’m now going to go into them in more depth in this issue. In the May 2008 Issue… Some experts are saying the worst is over for the U.S. financial system, and for the liquidity crisis facing Western industrialized countries, we cannot be sure that’s true. We just don’t know where the next blow is coming from. In this uncertain environment, ultra-cautious investment decision-making is the only option.
The China Stock Digest could not have become America’s number one Chinese investment newsletter any other way. The current holdings in our portfolio have outperformed both the Chinese and American stock markets. Our caution does not reflect a lack of confidence in the Chinese economy. As you will see in this issue, China may face challenges, but the economy continues to roar ahead in precisely the opposite direction of the American economy.
